Individual Case Adovacy

Mental Health America of Vigo County provides individual case advocacy for people seeking assistance navigating the human services maze and accessing services. We can provide limited assistance in the preparation of applications to governmental programs and/or agencies.

Forensic Program

In 1999 the Adult Mental Health Court was established in Vigo County for people facing legal issues. A pre-sentencing diversion program keeps non-violent offenders out of jail and offers an alternative sentencing in lieu of incarceration.

Access to Recovery

Indiana Access to Recovery (ATR) is a SAMHSA Center for Substance Abuse Treatment discretionary grant project that funds the provision of substance abuse recovery support and treatment services in ten counties throughout Indiana. The Indiana ATR project is focused on changing how substance abuse and addictions treatment is viewed by developing a more comprehensive recovery focused system of care for individuals with substance use disorders in Indiana. In addition to traditional clinical treatment providers Indiana Access to Recovery includes non-clinical service providers from faith-based and grassroots organizations that offer services to individuals seeking substance abuse recovery.

The Access to Recovery project in Indiana will pilot both client driven and recovery focused treatment through offering an array of services to clients. Each client will have access to recovery consultation, clinical treatment, and non clinical services (transportation, peer coaching, community and faith based support, parenting education and respite care, etc).

Indiana ATR services are targeted to adults with substance use disorders in six target populations. Individuals that are part of the first five target populations must be at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines and reside in one of the following ten counties: Allen Clark, Elkhart, Floyd, Johnson, Lake, Marion, St. Joseph, Vanderburgh, or Vigo.
